Your 1st Semester Concert: December 20th

As explained in your syllabus and parent/guardian sign-off note (sent home at the beginning of the semester), the following information is a reminder about our upcoming concert! We have worked very hard, and we don't want anyone to miss out on this!

Concert Attire:  Each student must wear the KMS Chorus issued blue polo (Order info will be sent home in October) AND khaki colored pants or skirt. (Absolutely No Shorts/Capris!)  All items must follow the guidelines of Knox County & KMS dress codes. 

 

Concert Attendance is MANDATORY! 

-The concert counts as a major test for the semester – it counts as 35% of your grade, daily/rehearsal grade = 65%

-Absences are excused only if they are documented  & we must have a copy of the excuse on file. (doctor’s note, funerals, incidents beyond you and/or your parents’ control) Birthdays/parties, Sports games, running out of gas, vacations, etc. are NOT excused. 

-‘Don’t have a ride? Let us know ASAP so we might put you in contact with another student/parent!  Not having a ride is NOT an excuse. PLAN AHEAD!

-Even if you have an excused absence, you will have to complete an alternative assignment to receive full credit.   Unexcused absences cannot be made up.

-This is an elective class.  You CHOSE to be in this, just like a cheerleader or a basketball player chooses to be on his/her team.  We have a uniform, and we have concerts - 2 are out of school so your families and friends can see your accomplishments! It's what we do - we're a "performance-based" class! Thank you for making a committment & sticking to it!

The KMS Winter Choral Concert is on Tuesday, December 20, at Hardin Valley Academy.  This is a required event for all Chorus students. 

The times are:
6:00-6:30- 6th Grade Chorus Concert
6:45-7:15 - 7th Grade Chorus Concert
7:30-8:00 - 8th Grade Chorus Concert
8:10-8:30 - Encore Choir Concert.

If you are absent from practice, you must bring a note to your choir teacher upon your return to school.  Two unexcused absences may result in dismissal from the group.  Please make sure you bring a note for any absence!
